starting solid foods at 4 months?

My LO just turned 4 months old today and is formula fed, she had a wellness checkup today and the doctor said we can start introducing her to solid foods.  Is 4 months too young?  I thought foods happened at 6 months or is it different since she's formula fed?  Thoughts?

I formula feed and started at 4 months 2 weeks. Hes a hungry little beast lol. I totally skipped cereal and went straight to fruits and veggies

My doctor said 4 months for formula fed, 6 months for EBF. After her 4 month appt we tried giving her mashed up avocado, but she wasn't into it at all and didn't know what to do with it, so I'm waiting until she gives me the signs! Lol

I just got back from my lo's 4 month check up today as well. Was just given the go ahead to start the cereal as well. Not sure how I feel about that yet. Wasn't going to start until closer to the 6 month mark. So many conflicting answers, even from doctors 🙄 I guess I'll just be following my gut, and my lo's cues.

My son started around 3 months which my doctor said was ok. She said if he starts making the motions go ahead and start she doesn't go by the months like other doctors. And love it and is gaining weight too which is what she wants. He had lost somr weight cause he was sick but now since on solids he is gaining it back.

My baby girl loves her solids, started her off at 4 months as suggested by my doctor who said he started off working with babies and children before going into surgical and GP so he knows his stuff. My health visitor also said she wanted to me to start Peyton at 4 months.

I've been to the doctors today and it was a different doctor and she asked what I was feeding her and she said it's best to start them off at 4 months to get their little bowls used to it.

I feed Peyton veg only at the minute and today the doc said to give her pears and boiled apples as it's really good for their insides

We've been doing solids for 2 weeks now, my daughter is 4.5 months and she's doing well on them, she's a big fan of pears so far lol

Yes i gave my daughter oatmeal because easier to digest and easier for her to poop. And also I bought gerber stage 1 puree fruits and veggies and she loves it and also i give 2oz of formula and then breastfees her.

I know mums who have introduced solids at both 4mths and 6mths and all babies have turned out great. We've had the okay to start and have tried a bit of rice cereal but she wasn't a fan and I still wasnt too comfortable so I think we'll wait until 5mths. You'll probably get a few people that feel strongly either way, but I think it's up to you and your bub once youve had the okay from the dr
