still having feelings for an ex.

So in about two or three months it marks a year since me and the (in my eyes) best guy I've ever had and I broke up but the other night I had a dream about me and him getting back together and ever since my feelings for him have strongly come back. I don't know what to do about it because the reason we broke up was due to me cheating and me saying I think we needed a break to just think about things but he took it the wrong way. But I decided to text him and just talk as friends. I have no idea whether he has a girlfriend or not and idk what to think of everything. Opinions?😅😅
