maternity leave?

I am a first time mom and i am having a hard time deciding on when i should start my maternity leave. Do you go a week before your due date or more or less? I have this huge fear of my water breaking while i am at work lol.

I'm trying to get my boss to lay me off because the company is so small there is no maternity leave pay.  I'm trying to stay until the lil guy gets here but it's hard and I feel like time is going fast!

Oh. Also it is highly unlikely your water will break at work.  90% of people have consistent contractions before their water breaks so I wouldn't let that affect your decision.

I'm working until 2 weeks before I am due. But that's if nothing changes from now till then which is 7 weeks.

Ftm mom here and I'm going on leave 2 weeks before my due date . I get 12 leave plus an additional leave of 6 weeks bonding time .

I took off a week before my due date but my daughter came 5 days early, 2 after I took leave! Good thing I was gonna work up until the very day hahaha

I delivered at 41.2 so I did not take leave at my due date.  My last day was a Wednesday and I delivered on Saturday.  I was in early labor on Wednesday which is why I took those next two days off.

I was due on a Sunday & worked up to the very last Friday before. So technically it started on Monday & I was induced on Wednesday.

I took two weeks off before my scheduled c section. I thought it would be covered under short term disability. It was not. If I get pregnant again, I'll work until my delivery date (c section again) or until I go into labor (whichever happens first).

I'm trying to work until I actually deliver (because it could be two weeks past my due date) but my job is really stressful and I'm tired so I might take off a week or so early if I just can't do it. Good luck. It's a tough decision.

With my 2nd daughter i worked the week i gave birth to ensure i get the full 12 weeks off. I gave birth to her friday my last day of work should have been Tuesday but it was sunday due to my oldest daughter getting sick. The problem with being a first time mom is that baby can come between whenever including almost 42 weeks and if you request that a week prior and you go past 40 week then you will lose out on a couple weeks out of your maternity leave. But it all depends on how youve been feeling honestly.
