active before labor?

I am 37 weeks pregnant and my little girl is SOOOOO active today it's crazy! She has been such a calm baby all pregnancy until now and today it's like she's about to come tearing out of my stomach. I'm also experiencing some pretty intense back pains today nothing that's taking my breath away just pain in another mid back. Did anyone else's baby's get really active right before they went into labor?
