late period. not pregnant

Has anyone ever been late on their period, taken a pregnancy test and it came out negative but later found out you are pregnant? Is that even possible? I'm nineteen days late with my period. I took a test yesterday and it came out negative. But I'm I'm having some symptoms. Sore nipples. Tired. Sometimes my sense of smell is great. Even my husband said I'm like a bloodhound I could smell things from a mile away. lol I'm just carious. If it means anything, if I'm pregnant it would be my first.
