What do you think of open relationships?

I recently got together with my girlfriend and while at Burger King, she tried to hook me up with a guy that worked there and I didn't really understand why until she clearly said "I'm cool with you being with other people as long as you tell me" which implies that we're in an open relationship... I'm iffy on this and need opinions. What do you think about them? 😕

That may also mean she wants to also be on the other end of it as well. Meaning shed want to be with someone else.

I mean I get that open relationships work great for some people, but just the thought of it churns my stomach and makes me feel like I have to vomit. I have bad insecurity issues and I would be beside myself if my SO desired someone else enough that they would spend their free time trying to get in someone else's pants. I don't want to be with anyone else other than my SO, and I would hope that he wouldn't want to be with anyone else but me even if the option was there. So that would be a big deal breaker for me.

Open relationships can be great! But they are not for everyone. How long have you been with your partner? It would be kinda weird if you've been with her for a while and this is suddenly a thing, or if she didn't have a conversation with you about it before trying to hook you up with someone.

I am in an open relationship, and I was iffy about it at first. But after a while I got used to it and it's helped me and my partner build a lot of trust and there are no secrets between us. Jealousy still happens, but we are close enough to admit it and figure out what makes us jealous, and how we make each other feel better about it.

That said, I personally think it's worth a shot considering my experience, but I wouldn't say it's for everyone :) I would also recommend talking to your girlfriend about boundaries. I.e. are you only comfortable with each other casually dating, hooking up, just fwb, or if you are comfortable having another serious relationship at the same time. Talking about how much info you two give each other about other partners is also important. Usually me and my partner tell each other that we are going on a date with someone, and if things go well, if we have sexual relations with that person. Its also important to use protection and get tested frequently as well.

The question is would you be cool with her hooking up with other people. By the emoticon face you posted in gonna think no. Unless she already is and is feeling guilty and that's why she's pushing you into trying to hook you up with other  people. Ya may want to have a talk with her and let her no that you aren't cool with this. That you don't want an open relationship. And that you aren't cool with her hooking up with other people. And if she already has you most certainly are not. If you want to stay with her that's up to you. If she gets defensive or tries to accuse you of cheating she's already guilty. That's what guilty people do they try and flip it on you. Just be careful.
