Help! what to do?

Okay, I'm 28 weeks 2 days and really need to switch doctors. My doctor only stays and talks to me maybe 2 minutes, won't tell me why I'm bleeding, or offereing any type of test, and won't tell me the results of my glucose test even though it's been a month! She doesn't listen and will call me a liar if I tell her what's wrong. I know some doctors have cut off dates on when they accept new patients depending on how far along they are. I know a few that will take new patients up until 32 weeks. My question is, how do I go about switching? I'm a first time mom and a teen mom at that and have no clue how to do this. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance!

Most doctors won't take moms that late because they want a referral && ur records and test.. but if it's a situation like it's I would go talk to the doctor before and tell them what's happening and see if they would take you.. I had the same problem and my new doctor took me at 33 weeks

Get a copy of your records from your current dr then start calling other drs and see if they'll take you on as a patient. I've had to switch late in the game and it wasn't bad at all.

Oh! Also, if you are on a PPO plan, you want to hear that doctor's office tell you that they are contracted with your plan and carrier. All doctors offices will TAKE a PPO but that does not mean they're in network and the cost to you can be a significant difference. If you are on an HMO plan, you want to make sure that they are either in the same Medical Group as your primary care physician (or be prepared to switch to a new PCP) OR are able to act AS a primary care physician. Some but not all OBGYNs are able to do both so it's a one stop shop. Also make sure the doctor has rights at the hospital you want

I agree you need to switch!! Ok so there are two important things to look for: a doc with good reviews (go to Yelp or www.healthgrades.com which is like Yelp for doctors) and that they're contracted with your insurance. For the latter part, call the membership # on the back of your insurance ID card and ask them to email you a list of providers in your area that are accepting new patients. Ask them to arrange it by quality if that option is available. Then sit down and do some cross-referencing and pick a couple of doctors that you are interested in. Now pick up the phone and call those offices. You want to confirm that they are indeed contracted and accepting new patients. Provider searches with the carrier or not always up-to-date so you always want to confirm directly with the doctor's office. Then make your appointment!
