Normal NT scan/Abnormal blood work
Last Thursday I had the first blood work and ultrasound for the sequential screening at 12w4d (I've had blood work drawn twice about two weeks prior for the NIPT test, but both came back with not enough fetal DNA to run the test, so then we decided on the sequential screening). During the ultrasound, the tech said everything looked really good and afterwards the maternal fetal medicine doctor called and said the fluid at the babies neck was measuring at 1mm and all looked great. Today I got a call from my obstetrician that my blood work came back with a 1 in 10 chance of the baby having Down Syndrome and wanted me to schedule a CVS to know for sure. I was completely shocked, I'm still in shock, since my ultrasound was totally normal. After talking with the maternal fetal medicine doctor, we decided not to do the CVS because it's invasive and there's a risk of miscarriage, taking into account my last pregnancy ended at 17 weeks when my water broke from a subchorionic hematoma. So instead of the invasive test, we did additional NIPT blood work. My question is, have any of you had a normal scan, abnormal blood work, and that was a false positive? Either way, my husband and I are continuing this pregnancy and will love our baby. Just wondering if anyone has gone through anything similar.
