period sex

I've been with my boyfriend a few months and I'm on an IUD, so I spot here and there randomly, I've recently been comfortable to try and be intimate while spotting or lightly bleeding and I've read a lot of articles and posts about it feeling very good but I don't feel that way. I get intense cramping and feel horrible afterwards, is there any reason for this or has anyone else experienced this ?
