breastfeeding?

Hello beautiful ladies! I've had a lot on my mind lately and one of the topics has been breastfeeding. I know I should ask a doctor and I will but what do you ladies think? What is the appropriate time to stop breastfeeding? 2-6 months a year?

The American Academy of Pediatrics recommends one year and then as much longer as is mutually desirable. I think the WHO recommends two years. You typically shouldn't introduce cows milk before 12  months, so that's my goal- to never buy formula. We're 7 weeks in, and it's honestly (thankfully) been very easy so far.

When you want to stop. Traditionally in my family I was told to at least breastfeed for 3 months but not longer than 1.5yrs old. Ironicallly I could only breastfeed my 1st born 3.5mths because I was too exhausted but I plan on going at least 6mths with baby no.2.

I've been doing it for 11 months with my son. It's still demanding as he is super clingy and constantly wants to be nursed when we're out places he's not familiar with. But I can't see myself stopping soon.. it would break my heart to make him wean before he's ready. Although I've been considering it because I'm due with baby number 2 in may and that'll be busy trying to breastfeed a newborn and a one and a half year old..

WHO recommends AT LEAST 2 years of nursing. We went for 25 months with my daughter and so thankful we did. She has hardly gotten sick other than the one or two runny noses we've had since birth. I was open to going longer but wanted to get pregnant again and didn't want to nurse through morning sickness though many moms have had success with that as well. Best of luck! Because of horrible let reflux in my boys, I had to pump and then give it by bottle so I could control how much they were getting. Apparently I spit out a lot of milk. With both, I pumped for 3 months and then had enough frozen for another month or so before they went on formula. I stopped at 3 months because my milk supply started dying down. I wasn't able to pump enough at work to keep my supply up.
