Induce or not to Induce

A

So I want to know what you ladies would do in my situation:

I live 3 hours from the hospital I will be delivering at (partially my choice, partially due to not having a better option), my due date is at the end of November and living in Alberta that means a very real possibility of bad weather and bad highways. My doctor said he'd like to look at getting me induced at the hospital between 39-40 weeks if my cervix looks ripe to reduce the risk of a delivery on the highway due to bad weather or fast labor or who knows what.

I have a choice in the matter, I can jump on board with being induced assuming baby doesn't come early (has been a very easy low risk pregnancy so no reason to think baby would - additionally my cervix was still high/firm/closed when they checked at 36 weeks, I am about 37 now). Or I can wait for labor to start on its own and start heading to the hospital 3 hours away after my local doctor confirms it is real labor but not knowing what the weather will be like or anything. Additionally - My husband is often on call and is out in the middle of nowhere fixing broken down trucks. He is going to do what he can to stay close near the end of my pregnancy but his job isn't very understanding of the baby thing and taking time off occasionally as is. So it could take him several hours to come home to pick me up before heading to the hospital...

The logical thing is probably going for the induction... But I don't want to force anything my body isn't ready for... And I hear induction is way harder than natural labor onset and doesn't always work. But it is probably better than the possibility of driving to the hospital on bad highways in a snow storm... But the weather could end up being fine and labor usually takes hours to progress anyways giving us lots of time to make it there.

What would you do?
