So, how would you go about forgiving someone who cheated on you? How do you let go and move past it? Or is it impossible to forgive.

It's not IMPOSSIBLE. But only you can decide that. Are they sincerely sorry, are you willing to work through the issue.. etc. My grandma always says if you decide to forgive someone then you never bring it up again. Are you willing to not throw it in their face any time you have a disagreement? If not, it's best to just walk away rather than to live that way. Im sure it's a lot of hard work you have to put into a relationship to get past something like that but don't let anyone else decide it for you.

I could never trust them again so i could not be with them. My stepdad cheated on my mom twice with the same woman. It was horrible for her because of the lies and deception. She took him back and i never understood it. She was a totally different person after that. Very negative. Very distrusting. Hard pass. Life is too short to be anything but happy.

There is a difference between forgiving someone, and getting to a place where you can forget it ever happened and trust them again.

It truly depends. It depends on the person, with whom and the situation. There was a time before my wife and I got married where i was not on my depression meds and did anything i could to push her away. After months i got it out of her, and it took a long time to gain trust in her. Now though i fully trust her and have forgiven her. We are also now expecting our first child. I did not want to be without her, and i truly believe it was a one time mistake.
