Too Early?

My boyfriend and I have been together 2.5 years. 3 years if you add a long distance hiccup. He moved here to be with me back in June. I now own a home with no loans. I have a steady government job and a reliable car. He is graduated from college and has a steady job and reliable car as well. I am 24 and have been dreaming of being a mom for years now. He is 22, a published writer, successful, and before he moved here he said he had baby fever. Do you think it is too soon to conceive? He has been wishy washy with his decision to have kids, so I want to know what all of you think!
