So my boyfriend and I both agreed that we would get married. Not right now but when we are ready. I've dropped hints on rings and everything but he doesn't have enough money for a ring for reasons. Is it okay to not have a promise ring first ? And are there other ways to propose without a ring until he can get one ?

My SO bought me a $1 wooden ring from a music festival. I cherish it and wear it everyday. We haven't formally told anyone though. I am afraid people will scoff I say that we can't be engaged without a proper ring 😟 In my mind we are though.

You don't need a ring to make that promise. If you still want a tangeble item. He can get you a dainty necklace. Something inexpensive but you can wear to show your promise
