I'm recently engaged and told my dad I do not want to get married in a church and I want it done by a judge. He says he is extremely disappointed in me. I told him that was a mean thing to say. He said I need to grow up. I said he was being a negative jerk. He said he disowns me, he wants nothing to do with me and that I mean nothing to him. My fiance saw that my dad made me cry and tried talking to my dad. Now my dad disapproves of my fiance and to let him know when we are married and he will send a gift. My dad has stage 4 prostate cancer. It would be nice if he came to my wedding, but he is so judgemental and controlling. This behavior is not out of the norm for him.
