whooping cough shot ?!

Is anybody getting the whooping cough shot? I got the flu shot at 20 weeks but I'm debating on taking this one or not . I am currently 25 weeks and 2 days now

Definitely get it. Newborns don't get the whooping cough shot until they're 8 weeks old, that's why it's important that you get it while your pregnant to protect the baby until then. As many babies were dying of whooping cough before their 8 week vaccine

Yes, absolutely, and everyone who's going to be around my baby HAS to have it too. Whooping cough kills infants, that's why this is so important.

Yes of course whooping cough has increased incidence by 40% in last 5 years. Many babies are dying from it unnecessarily because their mothers either didn't know about the vaccine in third trimester or chose not to get it

I will get it. Whatever antibodies you have are passed to your child through the placenta and usually stick around for up to 6 months. So not only will you not get pertussis and pass it but they get a little protection from those antibodies as well. This is also why I got the pregnancy flu shot.

It is highly recommended with each pregnancy to get a Tdap shot (tetanus, diphtheria and pertussis). It helps pass the immunity to your baby. Its also recommended for spouses, grandparents etc.  Talk to your OB they can provide you with more information.  I've gotten one with each pregnancy.  😊

My doctor said it will now be a requirement for anyone that will be around baby. The outbreak last year was from adults passing it on to our littles because we became immune to it!

Yeah I had both flu jab and whooping cough jab last week. Docs recommend it so I think you have to trust that they're giving you good advice for your baby 👍🏼
