serious crush problem; please help!!

I met this guy about 2 months ago. We had been going out 1-2 times a week and texting everyday. Recently, the texting slowed down a bit and I don't get reaponses for a few hours sometimes. I knownthat the insisant texting does not always continue as the relationship progresses so I wasnt too worried. I still got responses, good mornings and how is your day stuff everyday. 

We went out drinking with a group of friends on thursday and he does this thing where once he starts drinking, he tends to wander a d disappear for an hour or more and we find him randomly hanging out with strangera. i find this extremely disrespectful. Additionally, he was supposed to drive me home and at that point I didn't trust his drivingh so I had a friend take me instead. (He knew i had to be up for work at 6am too....) He texts me to make sure i got home ok and again in the morning to apologize for leaving. I told him that i appreciate the apology because i found it very disrespectful to leave and to drink to the point where i couldnt rely on you for the ride you promised me. I then told him that i really liked him and wanted this to go somewhere, but it didnt look like that was what he wanted. If all you want is fwb, i cant be it. The response I got was basically "i feel horrible; your feelings are totally watranted." HE DIDNT ADDRESS THE DTR PART AT ALL. I redponded again that i wasnt trying to make him feel horrible but i wanted him to know where i was coming from. I assumed i would get another response and then i could pursue the dtr part a bit more, but i didnt get another reaponse last night (last text was about 6:50pm) 

What do you think he wants here? Why didnt he respond again? I expected more from that conversation and the hope of some kind of clarity.
