I'm perfectly fine waiting 40 weeks.
Seems to me I'm one of the only people on this ap ok with waiting the full 40 weeks to meet my baby. This is my 3rd pregnancy, so I get it, it sucks near the end and you want to be done. But the amount of women I see on here trying to self induce at 37 or 38 weeks is dumbfounding to me. Or they are stressing out because they are 37 or 38 weeks and nothing is happening yet. pregnancy is supposed to be 40 weeks for a reason, baby needs those last few weeks to continue to develop and grow. It is even now been recommended that we don't consider a woman full term until 39 weeks and 37-39 weeks is considered early term because studies have shown that babies fair better if they are born after 39 weeks. No one has been pregnant forever, the baby will come out. Some women don't dilate or efface AT ALL until labor actually starts (that was me with my first!). So you mamas who are feeling impatient and ready to be done, I get it, but it's ok if you are 39 weeks and nothing is happening. Your body knows what to do. Your body will dilate when the time is right and that baby will be born. Trust me. Don't stress. Don't put pressure on yourself. It's your body's job to get that baby out and most of the time, we just really have no control over it. Let those babies cook a bit longer. It's going to be ok.
