early ultrasound and twins?

Has anyone had an ultrasound at 6 weeks and saw one baby and then at the 8 weeks saw there were two because the embryo split? 👶👶

Answer

The split happens before 6 weeks. If a second baby is seen it was there at the 6 week scan, just possibly too small to detect.

I'm confused my first ultrasound they seen three sacs and said I could be having twins the ultrasound I just posted was at 6 wks and she said there is only one but looking at it looks like two ? Twins run in my family either way I'll be happy I just want to know I'm not the only one that sees this mind you I just noticed this and had my ultrasound done weeks ago

The split should happen prior to implantation if it happens after that it would be writhing the few days after implantation and that can result in several problems including conjoined twins. It's not going to split after 6 weeks.
