Cora Lucile was born this morning at 8:59am
Started getting woken up by pain around 4:30 but it felt a lot like sharp gas pain. Got up at 5 & walked around the house. Went to the bathroom a couple times but it didn't relieve the pain. I was trying to distinguish timetable contractions as it was near constant pain but I noticed there was tightness that was worse from time to time so I opened a contraction timer app and timed those for an hour. All around a minute long, every 4-7 minutes. Woke DH up at 6:30 and we got to the hospital at 7:30.
Was 6cm at arrival (had been 4 at last dr appt) and they said the pain was near constant because she was face up and her head was in my spine. They took me straight to a room, got my IV put in and checked again at 8cm. Had epidural shortly after that, but within 20 mins I was feeling insane pressure and could feel her head coming down. Nurse ran and grabbed the doctor but my body took over- her head was halfway out by the time he got gloves on and she was born about a minute later. She turned on her own as she was coming out, and was born face down.
4.5 hours after first noticable pains, 1.5 hours after getting to the hospital and 4 minutes after I felt her head drop with only one guided push (though my body was pushing on it's own before that!) Oh, and she was 9lb 13oz. In one push. Amazingly only a 2nd degree tear, and 6 hours later I feel pretty great!
Good luck, mamas! It's a scary few hours of pain, but SO immediately worth it!!
