TOO EARLY???

Question

As I'm reaching for Gerber's my first fruits, some lady around her mid 30s asks me how old is my daughter. I tell her she's two months & then she tells me "don't give her baby food yet. It's too early & You'll just waste your money because she won't eat it. " I just turned around and bought it anyway. 
I just fed my daughter the apples and she cried if I took too long to give her another spoonfull! Ha! Take that granny lol (I'm 18)

It actually is too early. Youre not really supoosed to feed babies solids until 4-6 months. Their stomachs cant really handle anything other than milk this early. I know its ur kid but please do some research

Two months is way too early. Their digestive system cannot handle anything besides breast milk or formula at that age. You're also should get a pediatrician's approval before introducing solids. Sometimes you can slowly introduce single grain cereals as early as 4 months. However, babies at only two months can also choke on baby food because they lack the proper muscles in their tongue to swallow properly. It has nothing to do with a baby not liking or eating baby food.

My daughter was born a big girl (10lbs 3oz). She was not happy with just milk at a month we put rice cereal in her milk. At 2 months we slowly gave her baby food. You know your child. If the child is doing well and still taking a bottle you are fine!

I'm sorry but no, to those that say you know your child,that doesn't help if you truly don't know where they are developmentally. That is too young. I'm glad some of your babies are fine but that doesn't mean someone else's would be if they thought well she did it I'll be fine. there are guidelines in place for a reason. Also, the nutrition a baby that young needs comes from formula or breastmilk. anything else is actually going to take away from your babies health because the amount of solid food that fills up a babies tummy doesn't have anywhere near the nutrition that the amount of breast milk or formula that fills baby would.

What the actual fuck. 2 months is way way to early! You should not feed a baby anything but formula or breastmilk before 6 months. It can cause major problems later in life. Educate yourself before you harm your child even more then you potentially have.

Not only will she be unable to properly digest solids, but this is a huge choking hazard. Babies should be able to hold their heads up on their own in a high chair. Without this head control your baby is at greater risk for choking. Formula or breastmilk is what your baby needs right now. Do some research and you'll see that "granny" was giving you good advice. I'd consult my pediatrician next time you decide to make a big change like this with your child.
