Will you "confirm" pregnancy w/ your doc?

Question

I've taken like 20 hpt's so far. And I am definitely expecting. When I called my OBGYN they scheduled my first apt. @ 7 1/2 weeks which is considered early for them. (I am hypothyroid)

No mention of going in to confirm the pregnancy but I am seeing that a lot of girls do that? Is it mandatory? It's my first pregnancy so I am still learning..

Will you wait it out until first US or are you going in to confirm?? What are your reasons? Thanks!!!

It's not mandatory, it depends on your history. I had an ectopic in October so they brought me in as soon as I tested positive on HPT, others who has miscarried or have other issues may have the same. It's more abnormal than normal. Congrats :-)

When I saw my midwife she didn't confirm. She said the at home tests are accurate, so there's no need. Guess it depends on protocol. Plus if the OB gives you the test to confirm it's another thing they can bill to the insurance.

I went in for a blood test to have mine confirmed two days ago and today I'm going back to make sure my levels are rising since I've had some bleeding. for me personally it's a peace of mind and also I'm so excited! Congrats to you!

My first two I didn't go in until about 8 weeks. My third I miscarried so they told me next time I get a positive to call and they'll do labs the first week or so to make sure my levels are going up properly. This was only bc of the mc so I think it depends on the dr and you're history. Congratulations!!

I called the dr today and I gave them my LMP and they wanted to schedule me for 6 weeks but I had to push back a week bc of my work schedule. I'll be almost 7 weeks when I see my doctor :)

My doctor told me I didn't need to come in and to just schedule with an OBGYN for sometime around 8-10 weeks. Looks like I'll have to wait a couple weeks to know anything for sure...

I won't be making a special trip to the doc to confirm. All of that will be done at my first appointment at 10 weeks

You don't have to confirm. The many tests you took are definitely a confirmation. Unless something happens (like bleeding), you are probably good until the US. Not doing them definitely saves you money!

I asked for a lab test to confirm. It was a urine analysis, but it gave me the peace of mind I needed. Try asking for one and see!
