Dehydration is really dangerous!
After sending my husband off on one last business trip for 4 days before the baby comes ,I woke up at 1am with the overwhelming need for the toilet. My first thought was "great my body is emptying itself and getting ready for birth and I'm all alone" OH how wrong I was. My toilet experience repeated itself again about an hour later so I started downing some water to rehydrate... And then the vomiting started. Once an hour all night sitting on the toilet having the runs and also being sick into a bucket. I was surprised it wasn't coming out of my ears and was so glad my husband didn't have to hear the awful noises that escaped our bathroom. At 10 am the vomiting finally stopped. I was thirsty like a Camel and couldn't drink fast enough but was also scared to be sick again. I couldn't decide if I should go to the hospital and then the severe Braxton Hicks started and wouldn't go away no matter how much I walked or breathed. So I grabbed my hospital bag and off I went in my car with towels under me so I didn't poop in the car in case I vomited again. (I'm sure I'll laugh about this part one day). I drank over a Litre of water while they gave me another Litre of glucose over the drip and after all that, I only peed half a cup. Turns out I was super dehydrated and the baby was not happy. My contractions were all over the place, her heartbeat was all over the place and irratic. Not yet in danger but if it had gone on much longer it could have been. As soon as the drip really got going my contractions became lovely waves and I couldn't even feel them and her heartbeat was back to being perfect as ever. They're keeping me overnight for observation just in case and I'm fine with that. So hydrate, hydrate, hydrate is the moral of my story. Also food poisoning is shit and never going to the toilet for a vomit when I've had the runs without a bucket.
