Water shouldn't be give to a newborn because if they water fills them up they won't be hungry and wouldn't want to drink milk. Water doesn't contain everything they need like milk does. I would highly suggest waiting the 6 months like recommended! :)

Water literally waters down their blood. To a 9lb baby, 5oz of water is around 5% of their body weight. This would be equivalent to a 180lb adult drinking close to a gallon of water. 
For the health and safety of your baby, stick to breast milk or formula.

With my first I gave him water to taste it an' tea of manzanilla to help with the colics. I will do the same with my second.

I'm asking as in if they have hiccups or just to have them drink less than. 5 oz of it daily.  Not as a meal replacement From formula or breast milk. Thanxx

I haven't because it's not recommended . I have thought about it then she doesn't poop for a day . I heard it can get things moving
