Should I still use the name even if bf doesn't want to?

My boyfriends grandad died last year and his name was John. I recommended to my boyfriend that we use his name as a middle name for our son and call him Elijah John. He said he's not sure yet. But regardless, I actually like the name. I don't know if it would be wrong of me to say I still want the name even if he doesn't want to name him after his granddad?
