cromosomal testing - benefits?

Question

I had a d&c two days ago and agreed to do the testing of the embrio. Had any of you find something beneficial out of it? I mean if there is a chromosomal abnormality it doesn't mean you will have it again next pregnancy right? If not then what does it mean? How does this affect your next steps towards TTC?

It basically tells you if it was a random genetic problem or if it was something that could affect your next pregnancy, for example something you have that you could pass to the next baby. It's good to do it because in that case next pregnancy you can get all the help you need to prevent that because you know you have it in the first place. I hope that helps a little!

I had testing after both of mine. The first showed trisomy 15 which was super rare and lead to genetic testing for me and my hubs. Ours was normal. The second showed mosaicism of chromosome 2 which is even more rare as those babies usually don't survive implantation. While deeply sad that both were unlucky flukes, I felt better knowing that the diagnoses were lethal and our daughters would not have had a chance of surviving.

It is a helpful tool because if the testing comes out "normal", it may indicate there are other issues at play that could be treated in your next pregnancy ( clotting, low progesterone, etc)
