Newbie on the pill!!

I had started the pill on the 26th of October; it was going great for a week or so, but then I started my period on the 5th of November. I had called my local pharmacist out of curiousity because I had thought the placebo pills were the ones that "made me have my period". She had told me that my body just has to get used to the hormones and such; so it had put me at ease for a little.
