only offered unpaid maternity leave

I just found out that the company I work for only offers unpaid maternity leave and it is too late for me to sign up for short term disability through them to recieve money during my leave in July. This is so crushing to me. I thought by looking this far ahead into leave and pay that I was on the right track. I was wrong and apparently I should have planned all of this last year during open enrollment. Have  any of you ladies been or are in this same boat? What did you do?
