My friends are on "the pill" but I don't really understand what it does??

The pill depending on which one but more commonly relases amounts of progesterone & estrogen to the body but more progesterone than anything to prevent your body from ovulating (releasinf an egg)

I take a pack with 28 pills and what it does is 21 of the pills have hormones estrogen and progestine and I take those and on the last seven those don't have hormones so my hormones drop and that makes me have a period, I have irregular periods due to lack of hormones so the pill forces my body to have a period by raising then dropping my hormones like my body should naturally do
