Lap or Seat?

Question

I'm flying home for the holidays and baby will be about 2 weeks old. I'm flying Delta. Should I purchase an extra seat or have her on my lap or in the carrier? Does Delta recommend the seat?

With a babe that young, I wear them in a carrier to get through the airport and they just stay in it for the plane ride. Don't need an extra seat, they're very small at that age.

We buy a seat so that way we have an entire row for us to spread out.

I would buy a seat just because the baby is so young you'll probably feel more comfortable knowing they're snug safe in their seat. I would think lap is easier once the baby is a couple months and can support its own head. Less work for mama

Depends on the length of the flight for me. For a shorter flight (<2 hrs or so) I think I would save the money and keep her on my lap.

Save the money, I wouldn't buy the extra seat. Plus if baby's ears pop they'll probably want to comforted and held anyway.

I'll end up flying American and I won't be purchasing a seat for my newborn.. she will be two weeks old also.
