Baby Alex is here *birth story

Je

Hi ladies! I've been chatting with you all these months that I feel like you're friends and I want to share.

Mr Alex was born this morning at 36w2d. Everything happened so fast! I had my weekly OB visit and ultrasound as usual. Baby gained 2lbs in a month! My OB did a cervix check; baby did drop and I'm 1cm dilated. I had some bleeding but my OB said it was OK. I went along my merry way and ran a bunch of errands before going home. At 4:30am (my usual time to pee/ turn over in bed), I felt a gush and figured it was just more bleeding, so I rolled out of bed to keep from getting stuff on my bed. Since the stuff was clear, I thought perhaps I peed on myself. But when I stood up from the toilet, I got another gush of fluid. Thanks to the posts here, I knew to suspect water breakage. I called my doctor and we got ready for the hospital. I started getting mild contractions as we were gathering things. We are ~40 minutes to the hospital and by the time we got to the hospital, the contractions were getting bad and really close together. They put me in triage had to check dilation and monitor me. As the doctor there shouted out 9cm (after he warned me to not be disappointed if I'm 2cm dilated), I had the urge to push. So they wheeled me into another room down the hall. 15 minutes of pushing through 3 mean contractions, I have a healthy baby boy. I asked to make sure his lungs were OK then asked if I pooped lol

I don't know if the cervix check ended up being a membrane sweep, or all the walking I did the day before, or the super moon did it, but I've got my baby boy in my arms.
