Pregnant?

I had unprotected sex 2 and a half weeks ago and my period is 8 days late. Is it too early to take a pregnancy test? It will be three weeks on Saturday and I remember someone saying to wait that long but I'm scared because my period is late and my breast have been really sensitive and feel weird these past few days. Help!
