Don't like people/anti social?

Question

Okay so yesterday my mother asked me if I loved my job, I told her yes but in all honestly I don't like being around people especially in large places ... She told me that it didn't make any sense being that I'll always have to probably work around ppl but my question is, is it possible to be anti social well only like certain ppl like friends and nobody else? She thinks I'm mean but it's bc I'm not really a people person ..

You're not antisocial, you're an introvert! Antisocial would mean that you don't like talking to anybody, and wouldn't have any friends either. An introvert means that you are reserved and prefer speaking to people you're closer to. There's nothing wrong with the way you are. You just have a different personality type and that's OK.

What you're describing is just being an introvert. Tons of people are introverts and have successful careers. It doesn't make you hateful at all. When you're an introvert and you're around a lot of people it can cause anxiety and be physically draining. I work in the corporate oil and gas world and found a good fit in that I'm around people but I'm never around huge groups for extended periods of time.

You just described me.  I know, sounds horrible. I'm nice/polite to people I just don't like being around them and large spaces give me anxiety. I find it's getting worse as I get older.

Im in contact with my friends every day I know a lot of people I do go out like once in 3 months but in the meantime I'd rather completely stay to myself

I'm the same exact way. I don't like taking to other people first and even people that talk to me first unless they make me feel super comfortable. I'm very anti social unless I know you super good. Not stuck up just anxiety. I have been with my SO for 2 years and I still aren't comfortable around his mother and sister. But I am with my SO from day 1. Just depends on who makes you feel at ease. I hate even going into the grocery store and used to I would not and make my ex. Ever since I left him I started making myself and now I always do but I still get anxiety from it.

I understand where you're coming from.
I'm def the opposite tho. I went to a seminar at a previous job and this gentleman spoke of your work day being like a play you put on. I'm the star of my own show, I'm putting on this production for the public and it makes my day so much more pleasant! The interactions I have with my customers are short bursts of time and I can maximize the experience and either have this chip on my shoulder or embrace the interaction and take control of it.
