birth control advice

so i have a cooper iud. i didn't really choose it (my parents did). i was already having heavy periods and i feel like they've gotten worse. i really like that i can forget the IUD is there and it lasts a while. i'm contemplating on whether or not i should change to a hormonal IUD like Mirena because i know it's known to practically take away periods. do you think it's worth it or should i rough it out. (i'm scared of changing and my symptoms are worse🙃)
