Air purifier?

Question

Any moms and family living in a older home using an air purifier? Or anyone with pets use one? Our home is quite old (we plan to move after our second son is born.) And our son has been sick a good bit this year and my step dad said maybe the air purifier could really help out. I'll do anything to make things better for my boy.

We have an air purifier and a cool mist humidifier and I feel like it helps my little one she had this dry cough that went away when we got the humidifier,  I have to be careful not to turn it on too high because it can be too much for her. Also we were afraid there was mold in the house we are renting so we got the air tested,  it was about 400$

We just moved into an older home in August and my son has developed this cough and has been sick quite a few times since the move. We have cool mist humidifiers. I am curious to see other responses because I would love for my son to feel better as well. I am afraid there are mold spores or something in our house since it's older....
