Can birth control make your period last longer?

I usually have short periods 5-7 days. I recently started the pills and I've had my period for 10 days and counting. Is this normal?

If you just started it, it's normal. When I first started it I spotted for ten days after my period should've ended even though I never spot. Your body will adjust within a few months. For me any negative side effects ended after the first month.
