Natural birth or epidural?

I'm a FTM & had the labour that I wanted (water birth at a birthing unit using hypnobirthing techniques) BUT I'm definitely not against pain meds - I asked for an epidural when I got to about 9cm but it was too late to have one. It's not like you get a medal for going 'all natural' 😂. At the same time I have THE LOWEST pain threshold & neither my husband nor my mum (and probably most of my friends!) thought I would be able to do it...and I'm proud that I did.

I wasn't planning on an epidural, but the contractions were so terrible, I'm talking pushing 10 on the pain scale that I ended up getting one.

I had an epidural after 12 hours of hard labor while on pitocin and ended up needing a csection anyway. I highly recommend getting one if the pain starts to mess with your ability to think straight. I was planning on doing everything natural and had a well thought out researched reason why not to get an epidural but after complications it was the best decision I ever made. Vaginal or csection as long as you and the baby are healthy is all that matters.

You need todo what is right for you! But my birthing experience was actually enjoyable and I slept through labor. I had felt 4 strong contractions before the epidural kicked in and wow, so happy I didn't have to deal with that for 8 more hours. I also had pitocin which is suppose to make contractions more painful, but this was my first so I have nothing to compare them too.  You need to decide what you want todo with your body!
