Opinions on mierena iud ? Affective? Period or no period ? Side affects?

Very effective.. I've used it for 11 years and had no periods. Symptoms include the usual cramps.. that's about it. I removed it & got pregnant with my 2nd baby only 4 mths later.

I had it two times. No periods for me, minor cramping afterwards-- and it took about 2 weeks for it to position and get settled in. I loved it.

I guess everyone's experience with an iud is different. I hated mine. It took 3 appointments to get it in, had really bad cramping for a few weeks, then it just fell out 2 months later. My husband later told me he could feel the strings too. That's just me, I've usually heard good things about it.

I had the mirena in for one year without a problem! Although DH could feel the strings, doesnt hurt but it is weird. After one year of no period only light spotting (sometimes) i started bleeding like heavy, went in to see if everything was ok and turns out the iud had moved...took it out and put in another one, INTENSE CRAMPING for like a week.. i went to pee and saw the iud in toilet. (Didnt feel a thing when it came out!) didnt bother with iud anymore and now am ttc for 6 months! :)

I had one for 1.5 years, super happy w/ it, less cramps & PMS, lighter bleeding, had a shorter lighter period every month, for me it was not super painful to have put in or taken out (had it removed because we were ready to ttc), currently 28w2d pregnant will probably have a new one put in once I've healed from giving birth

I had the mirena 5 yr iud and I loved it and am getting it after birth. It got rid of my hormonal roller coaster and my periods went from heavy week long to every few months I'd spot a couple days. I didn't have cramping or anything. Insertion hurts a bit but a few hot baths and I was fine
