Don't clean it, and let it air dry. It'll fall off faster. Cleaning the tissue helps it stay alive and connected longer.

DON'T CLEAN IT if you do it stays on longer but if you let it air dry it will come off quicker . my son lost his when he was a week old and that was from air drying it . cause I asked my doctor this stuff too and they told me not to clean it because new studies showed cleaning it would keep it on longer so I left mine go and now my son is 2 weeks old and its gone

LEAVE IT ALONE. They do not recommend alcohol anymore. It will dry and fall off on its own. If it becomes red or pussy, call the dr.

I used alcohol prep pads... for me it was better than quips cuz the cotton can come off on the cord with quips and cause a problem where as with the prep pads they are pre soaked and don't fall apart.....
