Induction at 39 weeks?

My dr and I have scheduled an induction for next Wednesday once I am 39 weeks. I have been confident in this decision for a while now due to the largeness of my baby. I had an ultrasound today and they estimate her weight already being above 8 pounds. But everyone, including my own mother, continues to try to discourage me from choosing this route. My fear, also the fear of my dr, is if we allow my baby to go to full term she may be too big for me to have naturally. I know all the risks and facts involved with induction, I'm just seeking some moral support to help back my decision... TIA!
