so confused and sad 😞🙏🏻

Im so confused and need help from the community. Last monday I expected my normal "birth control period". When the time came around 12pm i was cramping so so bad to the point to where i couldnt eat it was horrible. Im thinking well dang this must just be one of those really bad cramping periods that i get sometimes. I go into the bathroom to remove the tampon i had put in just in case i started and i pulled out this little blood clot with a white almost cord looking thing to it. I was so scared ( you will see what im talking about down below) at this point im freaking out because i missed one pill of my birth control but didnt think anything of it. Then i stood up to whipe the access blood off and i see two pieces of tissue i started shaking and crying because i knew it was a miscarriage i went to the nurse and she said it looked like one and to go get a d and c done but im not sure what to do because im no longer bleeding but cramping from time to time adivce please
