Long term effect with bc??

Question

I remember when I first wanted to start bc, my mom told me it would prevent me from having children in the future. A part of me feels like she just wasn't ready for me to grow up lol but fast fwd 4-5 years later, is this really true???
I've never been pregnant or anything, just curious .

That's a myth or misinformation. Being on BC does not affect your chances of getting pregnant down the road. However, the longer you are on it, the longer it MIGHT take once you come off of it for your body to regulate and thus become pregnant. This can take up to a year for some people. But everyone is different so some might be good to go after a month. I was on the birth control pill from age 12 (heavy periods) to age 23-24 and have been off of it ever since (4+ years). My husband and I are just starting to try and conceive but doctors have said there shouldn't be any issues.
