So my boyfriend and I have been talking about eloping when the time comes for us to get married. We're not even engaged, but we want to get married on our anniversary in June. We aren't engaged because he wants to get me the ring first (even though I don't care if I have one, I already know he's all in). I have social anxiety that has affected everything in my life, and we have decided that we will hire an officiant and find a beautiful place to get married on our own. Really the marriage is only about celebrating our love and we don't see a point in spending a ton of money on an event that will result in me having a panic attack. However I'm nervous that his family will feel left out. I don't have a family so I'm not worried about my side, but I just don't want them to be upset or disappointed that we chose to go about it that way. Does anyone have elopement stories?
