To schedule induction or not?

Question

So I found out my doctor's office will allow you to schedule your induction a few days before your due date.  I'm curious what everyone's thoughts are on this option...

Here's what I have as pros
-easy for out of town family to schedule visit
-Able to plan maternity leave and make arrangements for our dog and stepsons care
-no worries of making it to hospital as I'm delivering in a different town than I reside.
-baby is already measuring big and doctors suspect I have gestational diabetes

Cons-
-I'm hoping to deliver without pain meds and I've heard inductions cause more painful labors. 
-doctors are often incorrect in predicting a baby's size.

I prefer to keep the birthing process as natural as possible. Why intervene if you don't have to??

I live in Hawaii. My husband is stationed here. My family is on the mainland. And for that reason, we are scheduling an induction, so that my parents can be here for the birth of their first grandchild. To each their own. I see no problem with inducing. It's all preference.

You gotta do what's best for you! 😀 Its personal preference. I personally would never get induced for the reasons listed above.   We all have to look at the pros and cons and determine if the risk outweighs the outcome. We all have different opinions. Good luck girl!

Pictocin is a mf. I had to get induced my doctor told me up front it would hurt more than what women feel with out it. If you're trying to avoid meds then just wait for your baby to make its presence known.

My last baby was induced. He was here after 3 hours with no pain meds. Everyone is different. That was my 3rd child and the pain was no different than the others. Good luck to you.

I was induced with my first. Labor was 13 hours and my contractions were always 2 min apart or closer. (Usually closer) it was very intense and painful compared to stories from friends who gave birth without being induced. However that being said I did not get an epidural and that surprised most of my nurses. This time around I don't want to get induced to hopefully have a shorter less intense labor.

Inductions dont always work so dont base your decision on having the baby sooner. I went in to have an induction on the Saturday with my son (which was his due date) he wasnt born until the Wednesday & ended up getting a section as the pesseries were giving he contractions but not dilating my cervix enough for me to have waters broken. Baby will only come when ready xxx

It's not a choice I would make, inducing doesn't always work and can lead to a lengthy and even more exhausting, painful labor. Family visits and maternity leave can be planned last minute or your family can plan to visit a few weeks after birth, if they need to book flights or anything like that. However, that's just my view on it, you may choose differently and that's okay!

I was induced with first and had my daugter 4 days before due date. It went amazing. I had an all natural no drug vaginal delivery with 0 tearing and 0 stitches. I went in at 6am, started pitocin at 7am, water broke on its own at 11am, I pushed for 8 minutes and my daughter was born at 4:28pm same day lol I couldn't of asked for a better birthing experience. My husband is army guard and has an out of town three day drill with our due date for this one smack dab in the middle of it so we will be induced again. Also my first is very particular with her schedule so an induction always me to schedule someone to stay with our first in our home so she isn't all messed up by the change.

To schedule induction or not?
