Procardia- 38 weeks?? dangerous?
Please read- i truly don't know what to do.
So I've been having Braxton hicks since 20 weeks. I've gone to triage twice with consistent contractions 3-5 minutes apart over the last month. I was 2 cm dilated at 35 weeks & my dr gave me a dose of procardia to stop contractions at that point. Well they come and go daily but they have been 2-3 minutes apart for about 24 hours. Unfortunately I'm not dilating anymore, so my dr prescribed procardia to stop them and told me to take ambien and sleep and let my body rest. Here's the thing... I'm 38 weeks Monday. I have high blood pressure (and it was high today and she was NOT concerned). When she checks to see if I'm dilated, I can't even feel her checking... isn't it supposed to hurt like a bitch? Also- my baby weighs at least 7lbs... he/she was 6 lbs 11 oz at my last growth scan almost 2 weeks ago. Quite frankly- I'm not comfortable stopping my contractions at this point. I have to have a c section and it's scheduled for 12/19 @ 39 weeks. But I feel like my body is doing what it thinks it should do. Would you take the procardia or just let the contractions do what they're going to do? I don't really want to stop whatever nature has planned, and of course i read a horror story about a woman who had a stillbirth after being given procardia at 38 weeks. I'm so confused and don't know what to do. Anyone have any experience with this? Thanks for reading.
