need some help

So I'm going out with this guy whose a year older than me (I'm 16) and he's a lot more experienced sexually than I am. Last night we went to a movie and we started making out, he then started kissing my neck. He asked me to do the same but I had never kissed someone's neck before or given anyone a hickie so I'm pretty sure I just slobbered all over his neck which I can imagine wasn't fun for him. How do you guys deal with dating people who are more experienced than you?
