Do you believe humans are superior to animals?

This came up in another post and I'm curious as to who still thinks this way. I personally don't believe any other being is superior to one another. We are all living, breathing, feeling beings and all deserve respect. After all, animals were here on earth before us.

(I'm not religious so I don't believe that "god put animals on earth for our benefit")
