As a teacher it is my job to set an example for my kids. They do look me up to see what my profile is like. I keep my profile private and the only thing that is seen is my profile picture. On the other hand I am also not one of those people that blasts my life all over the internet for attention. If you have a drink, fine, but why would you want to announce it to everyone. If you have a naughty picture taken, fine but, would your really want a bunch of strangers oogling at you? Other people may be I nsecure enough to need that type of attention to make themselves feel better but I would rather keep my private life just that, private and be able to set a good example at the same time.

God forbid teachers have lives outside of their school day...
We all know kids will get curious and try and look up their teachers at some point. I say have private social media accounts to keep students from seeing what you do...that seems like a fair trade.

As a teacher I hate this. If I post having a drink(not drunk) I could get in trouble. I'm a GAW!! If I want a drink I should be able to have one without hearing anyone's mouth. Well I'm pregnant now but you get my point lol

Depends on what it is, I read about a former model turned teacher who was fired for bikini pictures which I thought was ridiculous. If it's not disrespectful or threatening I see no need to penalize anyone.

If it's a private Facebook page then who cares? It won't make the person any less of a teacher if they view things a certain way. Let people be people, everyone is different and has different views and opinions. Just because he/she is a teacher doesn't mean they should be perfect in every way shape and form.

Well, where I live it's illegal for a student to be friends with their teachers on social media and vice versa. So no, they shouldn't be penalised.

Where I live a teacher was let go because parents found her fb page and it had alcohol all over it. A friend of mine was written up for saying "o picked summer school over Hawaii.. Hmmmm" they were both in very wealthy districts and parents have a lot of power. Keep your stuff private just to be safe
