can I have the same name for my baby as an acquaintance??

So I have a group of friends that I hang out with and two of the girls in the group have a friend whose son has the name I would like to name my baby. Her son is 6 years old and my baby will be born in January so they are not age fellows. I also met her in public places like malls or restaurants but I have never been to her house. The girls have fallen out with her in friendship and I haven't seen her in their homes  in over 2-3 years. Is it ok to name my baby the same as her son?? My husband is a bit skeptical about it but my sister thinks it's a great name and it doesn't matter. Thanks

Just throwing this out there, but if any parents from the 80s or 90s cared about not naming their kids something because an acquaintance had chosen that name for their child, we wouldn't have so many Ashleys, Amandas, and ambers😂😂
Name your baby what you want! There's a huge age gap, I wouldn't stress about it!

What name is it? If it's popular than no one will think you stole it! And if it's not super popular and people say something just say you happened across it in a baby book and thought it was a perfect fit! Pretend like you don't even remember that girl haha

Your child so you do what you want. If you like the name then go for it. My boss's daughters name is Ava and I'm naming my daughter Ava. We can't help that we have great taste in names. 😋

You gotta think long term. This person may be an aquaintance now but what about in 5 years or even 1? You name your child what you want because that is forever. It'd be slightly different if this person was in your immediate family
