Skyla Iud. Cramping. Doctor?

So I got skyla about a year and a half ago. And the first year was absolutely amazing I must say. But this last 6 months have been absolutely awful. The first year i hardly bled at all. The cramps were bad, like crying bad but they were bareable. However this past 6 months have been absolutely awful. My periods have been abnormal and heavy, and the cramps are so bad im crying my eyes out until they stop. I woke uo because i was cramping so bad. I hate going to the doctor about this stuff, last time they told me it was just a side effect. But since the cramps are worse, should I go back or do you think im A-okay and should just keep dealing with it?
